TiVo

    Turn Closed Captioning On / Off while Watching TV

      4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners and Minis on TiVo Experience 3

        1. From live TV, press the Info button on the remote control

        2. Press the Down Arrow button until the closed caption icon is highlighted

        3. Press the Select button on the remote control to toggle the closed caption feature between on and off

        4. Closed Captioning settings are changed for all channels  
       

      4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners , 4K Minis, and Minis on TiVo Experience 4 with Voice

        1. From live TV, press the  button on the remote control

        2. Turn on Closed Caption

        3. Press the OK button on the remote control to toggle the closed caption feature between on and off

        4. Closed Captioning settings are changed for all channels
     

    Change Existing Closed Captioning Options

      4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners and Minis on TiVo Experience 3

        TiVo Central | Settings & Messages |  User Preferences | Closed Captioning

        • Change options as needed, then highlight and select Go Back (settings are saved) to save settings
       

      4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners , 4K Minis, and Minis on TiVo Experience 4 with Voice

        TiVo Central | left arrow to Menu | Settings | User Preference | Closed Captioning

         
        • Press OK
     

    Closed Captioning Menu Options

      This is standard for all TiVos

      • Standard Captions: default setting is CC1 (English on English-based channels, and Spanish on Spanish-based channels)

      • CC2 - CC4 may carry other languages, determined by the broadcaster

      • Digital Captions: default setting is DTVCC1 (English on English-based channels, and Spanish on Spanish-based channels)

        • DTVCC2 - DTVCC6  may carry other languages, determined by the broadcaster

      • Other Closed Captioning Options include

        • Font |  Text Size, Style, Color and Opacity | Background Color and Opacity | Container Color and Opacity
 

Motorola/Arris Boxes

    1. With your set-top box on, push the power button on your set-top box (or remote if in cable mode) to turn it off

    2. Immediately (within one second) press MENU on your remote

    3. The User Settings menu displays on-screen

    4. Using the ▲▼◄► keys, highlight Closed Caption

    5. Press OK/Sel on your remote to toggle between Enable and Disable

    6. Power on your set-top box to return to watching TV
 

Cisco/SA Boxes

    1. Press Menu 2x to get the General Settings page 

    2. Select Language/Idioma 

    3. Select Closed Captioning

    4. Scroll to On/Off. Select On (or Off)

    5. Scroll to Analog Service, select CC1

    6. Scroll to Digital Service, select DTV CC1

    7. If you wish, you can also change the size, color, etc.

    8. Press Exit when finished
 

HD DTA

    There are two ways to enable/disable closed captioning on a HD DTA

    1. Press C on your remote 

      • Toggles through available CC options (CC1, CC2, CC3, CC4, OFF)

      • Select CC1

    2. Press Menu on your remote

      • Select Settings

      • Select Closed Captioning

      • Use ► or ◄ to change the following Options on the Closed Captioning page

        • Change Status to On (or Off)

        • Change Standard Captions to CC1

        • Change Digital Captions to DTVCC1

        • If you wish, you can also change the size, color, etc.

        • Scroll up to Use these settings and press OK
 

TV

    1. Look for a CC or CAP button on the original TV remote. Press it to activate Closed Captioning

    2. If no CC or CAP button, look for a Menu button and press it

      •  The TV's on-screen menu should have a captions setting area, most likely under Language or Captions
