Introduction
Resolution Steps
-
Wireless Setup - First Time
- Open the Wireless G adapter so that it forms an ‘L’ shape (90 degree angle)
- Insert one end of the USB cable into the Mini USB port on the adapter
- Insert the other end of the cable into one of the USB ports on the back of the TiVo
- Configure the TiVo
- Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Settings | Network
- The Network connection details will read No Connection
- Select Change network settings if setting up the network with a new router or re-setting the network connection
- Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Settings | Network
- On the Change Network Settings page, choose Connect Using Wireless G Adapter
- Press Select on the remote to proceed
- On the Wireless Network Name screen, highlight the correct Network name (SSID); press Select on the remote to confirm
- If the correct SSID is not on the list, highlight it and press Select to go to the password screen
- If you cannot find your network name, choose Enter Network Name
- When entering in a Network Name:
- To add a space, select (SPC) at the top
- To use capital letters, select (ABC) at the top
- To use special characters ( (,_ , +, -, etc ), select (SYM) at the top
- To delete a character, use the rewind key (◄◄)
- Enter Network Name on the screen and press Select to manually enter the SSID
- To add a space, select (SPC) at the top
- When entering in a Network Name:
- If the correct SSID is not on the list, highlight it and press Select to go to the password screen
- On the Enter Network Password screen, enter the correct password using the arrows and Select button with the on-screen keyboard
- When entering a Network Password, follow same instructions as for Network Name above
- When finished, highlight Done and press Select
- When entering a Network Password, follow same instructions as for Network Name above
- The TiVo detects the Wireless G Adapter and goes to the IP Address screen
- Choose “Get Automatically from a DHCP server (typical)"
- If you do not see this option, unplug/re-plug the wireless adapter back in and repeat steps 4-7
- Choose “Get Automatically from a DHCP server (typical)"
- DHCP Client ID - Select No (or not sure)
- Network Setup is Complete!
- On your Network Connections page, the Type is now listed as Wireless adapter
- On your Network Connections page, the Type is now listed as Wireless adapter
Connecting wirelessly to the internet (no MoCA) with a Wireless G Adapter
Wireless Setup - Change Existing Connection
- Open the Wireless G adapter so that it forms an ‘L’ shape (90 degree angle)
- Insert one end of the USB cable into the USB port on the adapter
- Insert the other end of the cable into one of the USB ports on the back of the TiVo
- Configure the TiVo
- Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Settings | Network

Type should be listed as Wireless Adapter
- Select Change network settings if setting up the network with a new router or re-setting the network connection
- Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Settings | Network
- On the Change Network Settings page, choose Connect Using Wireless G Adapter

- Iif you do not see this option, unplug/re-plug the wireless adapter back in and repeat steps 4-7
- Choose “Get Automatically from a DHCP server (typical)
- We does not require a DHCP client ID - Select No (or not sure)
- Network setup is complete!

- Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to an Ethernet port on the router
- Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the back of the TiVo
- Configure the TiVo to connect to the wired home network

- Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Settings | Network

Type should be listed as Ethernet Connection
- Select Change network settings if setting up the network with a new router
- Follow the easy-to-follow instructions to enter these settings
- The TiVo detects the Ethernet connection and goes to the IP Address screen
- Choose Get Automatically from a DHCP server (typical)
- Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Settings | Network

- Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Network Settings
- Select Change Network Settings
- Make sure Ethernet is On and MoCA is Off
- Select IP Address and select Get automatically from a DHCP server (typical)
- Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Network Settings

- Go to TiVo Central | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Network Settings
- Select Change Network Settings
- Make sure Ethernet is On and MoCA is Off
- Select IP Address and select Get automatically from a DHCP server (typical)
- Go to TiVo Central | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Network Settings
